Why Men Hate Going to Church
The book, Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow prompted a humorous, candid column on some of the reasons church can be hard for men by Salt Lake Tribune columnist Robert Kirby. From the article:
Besides, I didn't say that worshipping God is boring. I said church is. And if you can't tell the difference, you're probably a big reason that it is so boring. Look, it's OK if you find church wildly stimulating. People are different. So different, in fact, that if you're getting your needs met by a particular format, you can bet that someone else isn't.
I'm a member of a Church where there is an expectation to be in church every Sunday for three hours. I wouldn't say that I hate church, but as my wife will attest, it's definitely not my favorite worship activity. Nonetheless I'm sitting on a pew every Sunday morning with my family. Why? I guess going to church isn't really about having a good time, it's about becoming a better person- and I suppose that my Church experience is about as good of a way to do that as anything.
